SK85-CSP High Carbon Spring Steel Strip Delivery condition

Cold rolled narrow steel strip covered by JIS G4802 shall be supplied in one of the following delivery conditions:

-annealed or annealed and skin passed(+A or +LC);

-cold rolled(+CR);

-quenched and tempered(+QT).

NOTE The delivery condition-annealed to achieve spheroidized carbides(+AC)-may be agreed. In such cases, limits on spheroidization and mechanical properties may also be agreed at the time of enquiry and order.

SK85-CSP High Carbon Spring Steel Strip Surface finish

The surface finish of cold rolled narrow steel strip shall be bright as produced by rolling and annealing in a controlled atmosphere.

The surface finishes of quenched and tempered cold rolled strip are as follows:

1 grey/blue oxide finish:unpolished;

2 brigth tempered:unpolished

3 polished: obtained by fine grinding, abrasive brushing or other processes;

4 polished and coloured:blue or yellow colour obtained by oxidization by heat treatment.

Spring steel strip is used to build springs for a great variety of purposes. Below especially the cold rolled (carbon as well as stainless) spring steel strip will be described in detail. The most common production width of spring steel strip is about 300 mm (11.811 inches). As a matter of course spring steel strip can be slit or cut to length (sheets). We supply a very wide range of high carbon and alloys, covering the most stringent industrial requirements. C85S, 1.1269, AISI 1086 specification and application : C85S is non-alloyed carbon structural steel with low hardening capacity for oil hardening for low-duty, periodically operating springs, springs and spring elements, immune to the temper brittleness. It is characterized by its high hardness and abrasion resistance, while maintaining high strength. It is used for flat and spiral springs, machine parts or saws of all kinds for cutting.

Grade 85 and C85S steel are mainly used as steel for ball mills, press plates, stone saws, wire for steel ropes, briquetting press parts. C85S and 85 steels are non-weldable and resistant to corrosive environments due to their high carbon content and low levels of alloying additives. During heat treatment steel is vulnerable to decarburization and oxidation.
